"Sora, let go!" the blond struggled to say whilst being squeezed by his overexcited cousin.

"But you're here! I'm so glad you're here!" the brunet cheered delightedly once he let go and immediately began to jump up and down on the spot, smiling gleefully at his blond cousin. Roxas just laughed, Sora had always been a hyperactive knuckle head.

Summer was  finally ending, and the teenagers of Destiny Island were actually quite glad. Even though summer meant the beach and no homework it also meant rainy days inside alone with nothing to do, and as strange as it sounded the teens were always happy to be back at school after their long summer holidays. This year however would be different, especially for Roxas since he'd be new to the Destiny Island school. Sora was overjoyed at the fact that his cousin would now be spending all of his time with him and he was happy to express this to the blond in extremely loud displays of happiness.

"Hey Roxas, can we pretend we're long lost brothers? I wanna see how people react," the brunet gave a cunning grin, finding his plan utterly evil, 'simple things please simple minds,' Roxas thought as he rolled his eyes at Sora.

"No Sora, I'm sick of hearing that crap." Every time the two had been together they had always been treated like twin brothers, and they did look quite similar but in actual fact they were pretty opposite.

Sora was bubbly, loud and very into track sport and football,  he also had the observational and logical skills of a five year old child. Roxas, on the other hand was quite quiet and reserved, he'd spend most of his time listening to music and reading or playing his guitar and occasionally skateboarding.

"Ok boys time to get some sleep you have a big day tomorrow," Sora's mother said, peering around the door and smiling at the pair.

"Ok mum," Sora grinned back at her as he jumped onto his bed and the woman giggled before bidding them goodnight and leaving the room. Roxas collapsed happily onto his new bed finding it unbearably comfortable, his journey from Twilight Town had be long and tiring and jet lag wasn't really helping, but then again with Sora around the situation wouldn't get better.

"Hey Roxas" the brunet began, now jumping onto Roxas' bed, "wanna play some games?" the blond lay there for a while his body craving sleep and aching because of Sora's incessant jumping before he finally did the one thing he thought best. With as little movement as possible he raised his arm and hit Sora behind his knees causing the brunet's legs to buckle and Sora lost all balance, falling straight onto the floor with a thud.

"No Sora, I've had a long day and I really just want to sleep." Roxas answered, and rolled over to face the wall, closing his eyes as he did so.

"Aww Roxas you're so boring," Sora complained with a pout as he rocked backwards and forwards on the floor cross legged and somehow wide awake.

"Not all of us are made of sugar Sora," the brunet looked at Roxas form with a confused expression.

"I'm made of sugar?" Sora questioned curiously, looking himself over and licking his arm once. "I don't taste like sugar, are you trying to confuse me Roxas?"

The blond could sense an impending headache and decided to ignore his cousin and thankfully he quickly drifted off to sleep.

*******

"Hey Roxas come on, get up we're gonna be late," Sora shook the sleeping blond once again to try and wake him and finally Roxas' eyes flickered open and the boy groaned in distaste only to throw the covers back over his head again. Sora rolled his eyes and walked to the foot of the bed, "get up," he said and with one swift movement the brunette removed the covers from Roxas who immediately felt the cold hit his body and grumbled again.

"Ok I'm getting up," he mumbled, rubbing his eyes tiredly and yawning before finally stretching and moving to the edge of his bed, still dazed and wanting desperately to just fall back onto his bed and sleep again. Unfortunately for Roxas, Sora knew him too well.

"Do you really want me to get the bucket of ice again Roxas?" the blond shuddered just thinking about it, the memory of the last time Sora had gotten a bucket of ice cubes and water and thrown it over him flying to the front of his mind to wake him up as much as the real thing would have and Sora laughed.

"Alright I'm up, I'm up!" Roxas said, standing up off his bed so he didn't fall asleep again.

"Good." Sora nodded, "now get ready and come down to breakfast we've gotta leave in an hour," the brunet informed his cousin as he walked out of the room and closed the door.

Roxas felt a little more refreshed as he walked down the stairs and into the kitchen, he found Sora sitting at the table eating cereal and reading the newspaper. Roxas smirked at the sight, "I didn't know you could read Sora," Roxas said, trying to hide his smirk by looking shocked but his expression betrayed him and he couldn't help but laugh.

"Oh har har real funny Roxas," Sora bit back sarcastically, smiling as he did so and throwing a spoon at his cousin who was now filling his own bowl with cereal. Thankfully for him the utensil only hit the outside of his bowl.

"So what are we doing today?" the blond asked as began to eat his cereal.

"We're going shopping for school stuff with Riku and Kairi," Roxas looked at his cousin and smirked again.

"Which one of those two are you dating again?" he asked sarcastically, "I can never tell with you." Sora, unfortunately for him, had run out of table cutlery to throw at the blond so resorted to kicking him under the table instead. Roxas was probably the only person who knew that Sora was bi and that he liked both of his best friends, but he did like one more than the other.

"I'm with Kairi." he said pointedly, sitting up properly again.

"Oh, ok then" Roxas replied sarcastically and began eating again.

"Hey Roxy, Kairi has a friend called Namine who's coming with us today, why don't I introduce you two?" Sora asked raising an inquisitive eyebrow at his cousin who had to stop himself from cringing by keeping a straight face.

"No thanks." Roxas answered plainly, unlike himself Sora didn't know what Roxas' sexual preferences were, but honestly Roxas wasn't entirely sure either, he'd never been in a proper relationship with either gender or anyone for that matter. Sure he dated Olette back in Twilight Town when the two were younger but that didn't go as well as they hoped so they just stayed friends.

"Oh shoot we're gonna be late, are you done Roxas?" Sora was already hurrying out the room to put his shoes on before the blond could answer and Roxas followed him cousin instead of answering.

"We've got time Sora you don't have to rush so much," Roxas said as he walked over to put on his shoes before being dragged out of the house by his cousin before he could protest.

The pair approached the entrance of the mall to find Kairi, Riku and Naminé waiting for them, Sora smiled broadly once he spotted them and waved. "Riku, Kairi!" he called over, the pair turning to look at the boys and Riku waved back. Roxas had already met the two friends on previous visits to his cousins during school holidays but today he noticed a new member to the group, a girl much like Kairi but with blond hair, she was sitting on a bench beside the other two teens sketching something Roxas couldn't see. 'That must be Naminé' Roxas thought to himself as he took in the girls' appearance, she was kind of cute but Roxas didn't really have much interest in her.

Kairi was the first to speak once the cousins reached their friends, "where have you been we've been waiting ages," the girl complained and Sora could only sigh, Kairi was always like this and it was getting pretty annoying for the brunet.

"It took forever to get Roxas out of bed," Sora explained and the blond waved at the two who smiled at him.

"How's it going Roxas?" Riku greeted, walking over to the blond putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Good," Roxas grinned back before they both turned to look at Sora, the brunet currently receiving a verbal beating from Kairi for being late. "I can't say the same for him though," Roxas continued, looking over at Riku who had an annoyed look on his face and the blond grinned silently.

"By the way Roxas," Sora began, cutting off Kairi's rant which only managed to anger the redhead girl who huffed loudly. "This is Naminé, " with the mention of her name the blond girl finally looked up and looked at the group, noticing Roxas.

"Nice to meet you," he greeted the girl who smiled nervously before turning her attention back to her drawing as a light blush appeared on her face.

"Shall we get going?" Riku asked, noticing that Kairi looked like she might explode any minute now if her mind didn't go elsewhere.

"Sure," Sora smiled and lead the group into the mall.

It was a long but fun day spent in the shopping mall on Destiny Island and the teens finally bought all of their supplies, deciding to retreat into the nearest coffee shop. "Wow, I'm beat," Sora said as he promptly sat on one of the sofas inside the café, "why don't we get something to drink first and relax," he offered, though everyone knew he'd refuse to leave if they all said no anyway.

"Sounds good to me," Riku agreed as he sat down beside the brunet since Kairi took the opposite seat to her boyfriend and she scowled at the silver haired boy for taking the seat she hoped Sora would tell her to occupy but he didn't notice and nor did he care, her tactics of trying to get Sora to move Riku himself so she could sit next to him failed anyway since Sora didn't move or protest against his friend sitting there.

"Hey Riku," the brunet tilted his head a little to look at the boy next to him.

"Huh?" both Riku and Kairi looked at the boy, the silverette slightly nervously and the redhead with expectant triumph.

"Could you move a little?" Kairi's face lit up with a smug grin.

"What for?" Riku asked, praying he wasn't going to say so Kairi could sit beside him.

"You're sitting on my jacket," Sora pulled on his open jacket which was being stretched slightly and the redhead's face dropped.

"Oh sure, sorry about that."

"It's no problem" Sora said with a shrug, returning to look up at the ceiling to relax his sore neck as Riku smiled slyly at Kairi who didn't look impressed and deftly stood up, temper flaring somewhat.

"I think I'm gonna go now guys," the redhead announced and Namine stood to join her without a word, she wasn't exactly comfortable with being left with the three boys. "Sora can I talk to you for a sec?"

"Sure," the brunet stood up looking a little confused and followed the redhead out of the café. Roxas and Riku both exchanged confused glances before turning their attention to the pair outside who seemed to be arguing, as usual. As the boys watched the scene they both had to muffle their laughter at the dramatic hand gestures and random  expressions making the conversation look rather comical.

Sora finally walked back into the café with a sigh and Naminé left, saying a short goodbye before running after her friend. "So what happened?" Riku asked as Sora relaxed into the couch once again and sighed.

"We broke up," he answered, though it didn't seem to faze him much, in fact he was smiling slightly, but only enough for Roxas to notice.

"Really!?" Riku asked in a slightly over excited tone, "I mean really? I'm sorry to hear that," the boy corrected himself now trying to sound more concerned and Roxas quietly laughed at Riku, obviously Sora wasn't the only one who had feelings for his best friend.

As the three sat and drank their coffee Roxas glanced out of the window, not currently interested in the conversation the other two were having. So many people were walking by but there was only one person who caught the blonde's attention. Roxas looked back at the boy again to take in his features; he had long, firetruck red hair and bright green eyes, a tight, long sleeved black t-shirt clung well to his slim figure and a pair of tight blue pants hugged his hips and legs, 'he's hot' Roxas thought to himself and smiled, unfortunately for him he hadn't noticed the redhead staring back at him and once he did he quickly turned away, his face turning a deep shade of red and peered out of the corner of his eye at the boy standing at the other side of the mall who seemed to be chuckling slightly and the blond couldn't help but wonder what it sounded like. Nevertheless Roxas couldn't help but pout and the redhead laughed a little more, covering his grin slightly with his hand, he didn't seem to care that he was getting funny looks from passers by. Soon after Roxas noticed a smaller, sandy-blond haired boy with a strange mullet/Mohawk type haircut walk over to the redhead and they both left the mall, Roxas watched the pair leave and blushed as the redhead picked up his guitar case and waited for his shorter friend to start walking before he winked at Roxas and left.

"You ok there Rox?" Sora questioned the blond, snapping the boy out of his stupor to nod.

"I'm fine," he smiled, hoping his blush had disappeared and Sora hadn't noticed.

"How about we get going?" Riku added and the other two nodded, picking up their things and leaving the café to make their way out of the mall. Riku turned down his street with a wave and saying goodbye and Roxas smirked at his cousins' enthusiasm towards the older boy, questioning him all the way home. Tomorrow was going to be interesting.
